LAURENCE CAUSSE-PARSLEY

“It is about negotiating your peace with the world, on whatever terms you can.”

• Born in the south of France in 1966, in a family of painters, architects and Art lovers. Brought up in Nice in the beautiful area of Cimiez where ancient architecture from Roman times, Chagall's and Matisse's work are part of daily life.

• Studied Literature and Political sciences in Paris and England where she meets her husband. Subsequently 4 years in Paris and 5 in London, 2 children and the start of a career in marketing.

• During all those years, Art has been, though in the background, a vital lead in Laurence's life: extra-curricular art classes in her teens, student of the painter Yves Desvaux-Veeska www.peindre-en-liberte.com in Paris after work hours. In London, she takes on Mosaics and Life drawing at the City lit.

• Laurence uses mainly acryl and pigments. Yet collage, pastel, oil are also found in her work. She would like to make hers (although modestly) Picadia's famous motto: “artiste en tous genres” and is always trying to discover new ways of expressing herself. She nevertheless believes that freedom has to be built on quality and work.

• In 2000 a new posting for her husband brings the family to Bombay. In Bombay, she completely dedicated herself to her painting as well as discovering enamel under the guidance of Pr. Vivek Das from the JJ School of Art. India proved a great source of inspiration for Laurence because of its very dense aesthetic dimension. In February 2003, the Hacienda Art gallery in Bombay presented her first solo exhibition of recent paintings as well as earlier life drawings.

• After India, Taiwan. In Taipei, Laurence discovered Chinese arts by becoming a volunteer guide at the National Palace Museum. The creation of a website allows Laurence to share her Taipei paintings.

Today, Laurence and her family live in Bangkok, Thailand. In the Summer 2007, Laurence will hold her first exhibition in France, in Provence (Presbytère d'Ansouis, Vaucluse, 4-16 August, 2007).
